Ecological Balance

Ecological balance ensures stability and harmonious co-existence of  organisms and their environment. This balance creates a stable and conducive environment for organisms, CBK works with the local communities to address ecological imbalances through the following initiatives: tree planting (afforestation), soil conservation, manageable sedentary livestock keeping, introduction to alternative economic activities like arable farming and transition from conventional to organic farming   among others.

Food security is a global and ecological concern. Ilbisil is a semi-arid  area and is prevalent to drought due to    overgrazing and lack of enough rainfall  which is caused by less vegetation cover. Indegenous drought resistant tree planting initiatives must be encouraged for instance in our training ground we planted Indigenous tree nurseries that have been transplanted and also given to school clubs and homesteads (manyattas) with the aim of increasing the vegetation cover. We also sensitize the pastoralist community on the benefits of  sustainable sedentary livestock keeping that coexist with the environment harmoniously.

Chemical pollution from farms is also a contributing factor in ecological imbalance. In Order to combat this we are working together with local farmers encouraging them to transition from conventional farming to organic food production hence promote  good health and nutrition.Together with our communities, we are mitigating the impacts of climate change and finding sustainable solutions to these challenges.
