Transition to Organic Farming

Organic farming has the potential to generate significant incomes for households, thus uplifting farmers households income  and  address  food insecurity. It also contributes toward the preservation of natural  environment  by eliminating pesticides and chemicals from entering into the environment , protects consumers against diseases caused by harmful chemical. Organic agriculture techniques primarily aim at cultivation and growing crops sustainably to maintain  good health and  enhance soil fertility.

We are working together with  farmers to transition from conventional farming  to sustainable organic farming. Conventional agriculture is very expensive for farmers, the cost of inputs such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides continue to rise beyond their ability. Furthermore, these  inputs have been proven to be  dangerous when mishandled and are a contributing factor to underlying health risks. According to World Health Organization Pesticides are among the leading causes of death by self-poisoning. They also cause environmental pollution, hence there is need to sensitize farmers on importance of organic agriculture.

Our transition follows the following dimensions:-

Agritech Training

We offer practical and effective training on a wide range of topics on organic and sustainable farming methods to groups of farmers. The training approach is practical and hands on demonstration are done in our project farms within communities. This enhances full participation hence boost productivity gains which leads to food security and improves farmers’ family welfare.

Agritech support

We collaborate with partners to offer agricultural services to farmers which include soil testing and preparation, cultivation, planting , harvesting and advisory thus enabling our farmers to practice sustainable farming.
